Cards - All Occasions

The best therapy ever!

Hello my friends!  It has been awhile since I have shared a 'how to video', so I thought sharing one of my favorite techniques would be the best time to do another!

Have you ever tried water coloring?  If you are a serious artist, we know you can do water coloring painting which I can tell you, I am not.  But what I want to show you is a way to achieve that beautiful water color look, without being that seriously focused, painter.  There are two tools I used to achieve this look which are blender pens and aqua painters.  Each have a specific duty for me, so let me break that down:

Blender Pens

These pens come 3 to a pack when purchased thru me.  I love these for precise coloring, and when I don't want to go for that serious water color look.  You can use blender pens with your reinkers, ink pads, markers and pencils.  Just keep in mind, you will get precision with these, verses the Aqua Painters.  My go to paper with blender pens will be Stampin Up! Ultra Thick Whisper White cards stock or White Shimmer Paper.  I like to use these with my water color pencils.

Aqua Painters

These painters come two to a pack when purchased thru me.  They can be filled with water straight from the tap, and last a really long time!  I only use these painters on water color paper and boy are they fun!  Here is a video that walks you thru using aqua painters:

I typically don't like to make videos that are longer than 10 - 15 minutes but I wanted to share some important features for the new At Home With You Bundle that was new to the Stampin Up! 2017-2018 catalog.  I LOVE this bundle - here are snapshots of some of the projects I have completed with it:

  At home with you

Cute right?  This set is so versatile and a must for water coloring.  I know myself, I want to have many occasions covered when investing in a bundle set like this and I have to tell you, this one was first on my list!  If you have any questions, please let me know and be sure to check out my class in September to try your hand at water coloring, you won't regret it!

Happy Stampin!

Don't overlook that odd looking stamp set...

So I know it's been awhile...a long while.  :)  Since we last met, WE HAVE A BRAND NEW ANNUAL CATALOG!!!  If you have not seen it, you need to let me know so I can get to you, your very own copy!

When I got to see this catalog for the first time, I ALWAYS check for my beloved Lovely As a Tree stamp set.  Oh I just love this set, have you seen it?  If not, please let me show you:

Lovely as a Tree

Lovely As a Tree #128655 (wood mount) #127793 (clear mount)

I can't imagine if I will ever get tired of this set - it is so beautiful and a must for every good stamper!

Ok so back to the new catalog!  There is one set I need to call out because when you see it, well it's just not pretty.  LOL  Let me show you:You move me

You Move Me #144002 photopolymer

When I saw this, I thought for sure Stampin Up! fell off their rockers.  I mean what's with the odd looking butterfly and humming bird?!?!  Well let me tell you - this set WITH their matching framelits are AWESOME!!  This set is designed to be an action card meaning when you pull the imagine behind the grid framelit, the butterfly and humming bird will appear to be flying off the page!  Yes, it is so cool and delights all ages!!

This was new to me so I went ahead and created a video of the card in action, as well as some tips to make the card!  Here is a link to that video:

Here is a better picture of just the cards:

You move me

These are so fun to make and love how they coordinate with the new Petal Garden Designer Series Paper pack.  What I love best about this pack is the size - it is 6 in. x 6 in. so an excellent size to work with!  I love how the images seem to be flying out of the flowers, what do you think?

I hope you love it just as much as I do and I am already playing with the framelits to see if I can make other stamp set appear to 'come to life'.  Oh the possibilities!  Let me know if you have any questions, would love to hear from you!

Until next time!

Let's get back to basics!

Don't you just love when you get done with a card and you would not change a thing?  Yes, me too and I had some much fun creating this one:

Flowers watermarked

I just LOVE the color combo for this and so proud that it was simple!  (It is, I promise!)  Sometimes I get caught up with adding this element and that element, and forget the pure beauty of plain 'ol stamping!   What else do I love about this?  You can make this card with any flower set you may own.  I started with Blooms and Wishes because of the all the different floral elements and the greenery stamps.  I am pretty sure I am close to owning all current floral stamp sets because they are so beautiful, I can't help myself!  LOL  :)  Key points in creating this kind of scattered background:

  • Be sure to always stamp off the edge of the cardstock to get flowers to look natural, this is a must.
  • Start with lighter colors for your larger flowers.
  • Think outside the box!  I used a new pencil eraser for the middle of the small flowers.  Simply tap, tap on your ink pad, then right on to your card.  For this one, I went in a circular motion to soften the circle.
  • Always try to stamp 3 of each image.  Again, this is to add visual interest and create a balanced card.

Let me show you what some of my crafty friends came up with when creating this card:

Cute right?  I love the sediment that Melissa picked for hers - perfection!!!  :)  I also like how just changing the cardstock base color, makes it different too.  Check this out:

I had a hard time picking the background paper but think Tip Top Taupe won slightly over Watermelon Wonder.  What do you think?  Are you ready to try one of your own?  Anyone one who shares their creation on my blog, email or my Facebook page will get a special gift from me!  Yes - I am talking to you!  :)

Thanks for stopping by!

Oh how I love pretty paper!

Hello my stampin friends!  I have been busy creating in my room and I have a treat for you!  Do you ever have those friends or family members that are extremely hard to buy gifts for?  Well I do and this year, I have been thinking of how to get around that feeling!  I was playing with the paper pockets I had shown you about a month ago and thought, let's start with a 12 in x 12 in piece of paper.  Check.  Now I had this pocket, what can I put in it?  I came up with a care package of greeting cards!

Blue pocket

Would you like to see the cards?  Here they are:

Inside blue pocket

The top project, to the left, is a cute gift card holder and then 3 every day cards.  (A Birthday, Thank You and Thinking of you card)  How cute is that?  I also love how custom you can make these and who wouldn't love a little gift like this?  I can see giving this to cheer up a neighbor, thank a co-worker or maybe to a friend that you just want to treat!  How about a Christmas gift?  Take a look at this:

Green envy

This one is my favorite!  Would you like to see what is inside?  Let's take a look:

All trees

I have fallen in love with this technique!  Simple masking with daubers and ink and of course, Sheltering Tree.  This card layout can be used for some many occasions by just changing the colors!  What do you think?  Sounds like fun right?

I will be hosting a class to make your own gifts just like above.  This will be a limited seating engagement where you will be able to make 2 pockets and 6 cards to fill them with.  There are a few ways you can get a seat:

It's not too late to think about a great gift to give!

Hello my friends!  How is October treating you?  I have to say, the weather in MN has been unseasonably warm so there are no complaints here!

So I have some exciting news to share with you all, did you have fun on National Cardmaking Day?  I was crafting with a friend making paper flowers and let me tell you, we had so much fun crafting, laughing and telling stories!  I am a firm believer that time with a dear friend is the best therapy EVER!!! So back to the exciting news....First, you have one more day to get some amazing sale items from Stampin Up!, have you seen them?  Let me share:

What excites me the most about these specials has to be the Designer Tin of Cards!  Have you ever had that friend or family member that you want to give a gift to, but they have EVERYTHING?!?!?  Well they don't have handmade cards made by you!  Yes, this makes the best gift ever!! This fun printed tin gives you plenty of room to store the cards that you make from this kit, plus room for more. Kit includes tin and enough card bases, accents, and envelopes for 16 cards, 4 each of 4 designs. How cool is that?  The only thing you need is a little bit of ink and a stamp set of choice.  Easy, peasy!  I also love the Envelope punch board - did you know you can make 60 different sized envelopes?!?!?  Awesome!!  These special prices are valid thru October 5th so get them while you can!

Second - how about some FREE Designer Series Paper?  Yes, I said FREE!!  Check out this special:

Do you know what Oct 1st is?

Hello my stampin friends!  First and foremost I want to thank all of you who attended classes this weekend!  We have not had groups that big in awhile and appreciate everyone's patience while waiting for supplies.  We had some Halloween, Fall foliage, Christmas and even a gift idea or two!

Today I want to share one of the projects we made that you can use for October 1st.  What is October 1st?  Well it is National Cardmaking Day of course!  This is a day we can celebrate with a craft that we all love!  I encourage you to make a card or two this week and surprise a friend or family member with some of your handy work!  My favorite cards to receive are the ones that are unexpected!

Kitty background

This set has been on my shelf for awhile now, and I believe it was just waiting for me to make something special.  What do you think?  This one has texture that was applied with the Big Shot and the image was colored with our very versatile Stampin Write Markers.  My tip to you when coloring with markers or watercolor pens.  ALWAYS stamp your image with StazOn Ink.  This is permanent ink that is perfect for water coloring and stamping on nonporous surfaces such as window sheets or Shrinky Dink paper!

Now my ask of you, take part in National Cardmaking Day and at the very least, make one card or send one of your cards buried in your stash!  The smile our works of art have so much to offer, you will be happy you did.  :)  My gift to you?  Stampin Up! will have some amazing specials just for you but only available from October 1 - 5 so be on the look out for these items!  If you send a card or two or three this weekend, please let me know and I will be giving away a special treat in a drawing for those that participate!  Maybe a stamp set?  You will have to play and find out!  Until next time, I hope your day brings you joy and contentment in all that you do!

Happy Stampin!

Please don't let this one pass you by

So the wind is different, Fall is just around the corner which is my FAVORITE season!  Pumpkin Spice, crisp fall leaves and the smell of harvest in the air.  How about you?  What's your favorite season?  The only problem is Fall in Minnesota never lasts long enough so we need to take in every single minute that it is here!  :)

I have been busy playing with the beautiful stamp set call Thoughtful Branches, you know me and trees....I just love them!

All 3 together

I was out cruising on Pinterest and found some amazing work by Marelle Taylor.  I fell in love with her green card for the simplicity but felt it needed just a little more so I added the embossing on my version:

Green

This card could be changed for Birthdays, Thanks You or a Just Because card.  Sometime I find my most favorite creations are the ones with simple and clean designs that took little effort, would you agree?  Here is a closer look at the Fall version from the stamp set:

Golden autumn

The leaves of the tree are created by adding ink to my stamp, then spritz the stamp with water and  stamping on watercolor paper.  This technique will give a watercolor painting look without having to be an artist.  Don't you love what the gold foil Acetate gives the card?!??  Another piece of texture and a burlap knot to finish.  Here is one last design:

Blessed tree

This one was using the front AND the back view of the Foil Designer Acetate.  Leave it to Stampin Up! to give us gold AND silver in the same package of DSP!  I also used a new greeting stamp set from the NEW Holiday Catalog called Paisleys & Posies.  Have you seen the new Holiday Catty?!?!  It is gorgeous and have preordered 3 different times from it already!!!  LOL  If you need a copy of your own, please let me know and I will get you a copy.

I hope this inspires you to purchase the Thoughtful Branches stamp set or the Beautiful Branches Thinlits to make your own masterpieces featuring these beautiful trees!  Go ahead and get the bundle and have twice the fun!  (You know you deserve it!)  Remember, this bundle is only available till August 31st so time is ticking.  Don't let it pass you by!

Have a great day stampers!
