January 2016

We can celebrate with a touch of Spring!

I want to take a few minutes and share one of my favorite new product bundles featured in the Handmade from the Heart Occasions catalog.  I bought this bundle strictly for the stamp set because the verses....oh the verses!!!  Just look at this set!

Rose set

Isn't it beautiful?!?!?  I had fun creating this simple card with the framelits, a little bit of ink and the new shimmer paper:

Your in My Thoughts

I know sending Sympathy cards can not be too much fun but I am a firm believer that they should be just as pretty as a birthday or anniversary card.  Here is a great video that showcases this amazing bundle that is a must for all stampers! (And Carrie is one of my FAVORITE Stampin Up! trainers!)

I hope you enjoyed taking a closer look at this bundle and if you would like to give this a try, this card will be featured at class next weekend - hope to see you there!

An Artist Emerges....

I have a love/hate relationship with watercoloring.  If you have ever tried watercoloring in your craft projects, you know what I mean.  When creating a project, you really have to be patience and trust that it will be beautiful in the end even though it may be a hot mess when you begin.   I find as my project dries...I love it more and more.  Here is a card that was featured for class last weekend:

Every time I look at this card I think, "Man, I did that!".  Yes, sometimes we are our biggest fans but to me, watercoloring is an art - the same card can look so different from person to person, sample to sample.  I was having so much fun, I just keep "painting" and here is a few more I did:

  Watercolor samples

When I watercolor, there are three 'must haves' for me.  Number one, I only use watercolor paper.  The reason for this will be when you start.  Watercolor paper will allow you to push color where you want it.  If the color is too dark, just add water so the paper itself, becomes very forgiving.

Second, you must stamp your image in permanent black ink.  I am loving Momento Tuxedo Black ink right now because it is a crisp, clean black.  Once your image is completely dry, you can begin with you coloring.

Last, I prefer using Aqua Painters.  At first, I had trouble with too much water coming out because I was squeezing too hard but when you get the hang of them and use them in conjunction with watercolor is pretty amazing!  I LOVE when my stampin friends find a technique that they are good at and love to try!  Here are two made by the talented Heidi Frohman from Detroit Lakes:

I do believe this was Heidi's first time with this technique but she will have to verify that.  Aren't they gorgeous?!?!

I hope this inspires you to take a try at this technique and if you don't have the supplies, no worries!  This card and technique will be featured at class in February!  Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

It's never too early to say I love you!

It is never too earlier to get your Valentine's made for your loved ones!  We got a jump start this weekend at class so I thought I would share a few ideas with you!

Beautiful Blessing

This one is using the new Love Blossoms Designer Series Paper Stack.  This has 48 sheets of beautiful hearts and florals which is perfect for those you love!  I also added one of my new favorite embellishments - Botanical Garden Jewels!  I am all about adding some texture so the Happy Hearts embossing folder was the perfect  finishing touch!

Hearts close up

This card is AWESOME for using up your scraps!!!  When I was preparing this card, the obvious choice was to add a Valentine greeting but I also love that it can be a "thinking of you" card too!  I have been using our Corrugated Paper like mad - again...TEXTURE adds so much!  (and glitter is always good too!)

I would love to hear from you - is Valentines Day a holiday you typically send cards for?  I think this year, I may just surprise some friends with a card on a holiday that is not just for lovebirds but a chance to tell someone special, how much you love them.  Have a great day!!

Hip Hip Hooray for Friday!!

Hello friends...we made it! Sometimes Fridays are such a joy that I can barely contain myself!  LOL  In honor of Friday, I will share a new idea.

Its your day

From the outside, we have your standard, clean looking card.  Nothing special but still a great card.  Now if you open the card.....

Hip Hip Hooray

This one practically jumps right out at you!  This was made with the new Party Pop-Up Thinlits Die set!  You use the die once thru the Big Shot and this is what you get! Cool right?  Here is another card with the same image as well as a look at the second die in the set:

Just when you thought you had everything needed to create some amazing cards - leave it to Stampin Up! to completely reset the standard of card making!  This card will be featured at class this weekend as well as next month.  Don't forget, coming to class is a great way to try new products, meet new friends and make cards of course!  Until next time!
