Making a mess can be fun for adults too!

Hello my friends!  Many, many years ago, I learned a technique that still  amazes me to this day!  A little bit of shaving cream, ink and paper, and the sky is the limit for fun!

So there is a love/hate to this technique.  (there had to be a catch, right?)  LOL  So it can be messy - that one is obvious as you can see from the photo above.  You may get ink on your hands but let me tell you....IT'S SO MUCH FUN!!!  I love that each time I drop my paper in this plate of squishy goo, I never know what it will look like until I scrape the mess off my cardstock.  Each piece is literally a one of a kind creation and you can change up the colors to match any kind of event.  (School colors, baby showers, seasonal etc)

For this session, I went for some Fall colors since it is right around the corner.  Below are some of the samples I used with the following re-inker colors:

  • Lemon Lime Twist
  • Cajun Craze
  • Tempting Turquoise

As you can see from the photo, even using the same colors will look different on each sheet of cardstock because of the fluid movement of color!  I typically let it dry - that does not take long, then start to look for some coordinating cardstock for a base.  Once I have that all picked, I decide how to showcase that beautiful work of art!  For this I knew I wanted to try to some copper paper and also had the new champagne paper too! (IT'S SO PRETTY!!!)   I was not sure how it was going to come together so I laid it all out so I could plan.  I also wanted to prove that my room, or my table are rarely clean at any given time.  For some reason, I like to work with lots on my table for inspiration.  (We as crafters never do that right?!?!?)  Here is what the finished project looked like:

Leaves together

The single leaf card is using the new champagne foil paper that you can purchase on September 1st!  It is so beautiful, to me, it looks like silver with a pink undertone.  I also mixed in more texture with the Foil Frenzy Specialty DSP and Fabulous Foil Designer Acetate.  I was so happy how things came together on these two cards!  Great news...the card on the right will be a class offering in September too! (YAY!!)

I hope you enjoyed the project - stay tuned because I am doing a video on this one.  :)

Until next time!

The best therapy ever!

Hello my friends!  It has been awhile since I have shared a 'how to video', so I thought sharing one of my favorite techniques would be the best time to do another!

Have you ever tried water coloring?  If you are a serious artist, we know you can do water coloring painting which I can tell you, I am not.  But what I want to show you is a way to achieve that beautiful water color look, without being that seriously focused, painter.  There are two tools I used to achieve this look which are blender pens and aqua painters.  Each have a specific duty for me, so let me break that down:

Blender Pens

These pens come 3 to a pack when purchased thru me.  I love these for precise coloring, and when I don't want to go for that serious water color look.  You can use blender pens with your reinkers, ink pads, markers and pencils.  Just keep in mind, you will get precision with these, verses the Aqua Painters.  My go to paper with blender pens will be Stampin Up! Ultra Thick Whisper White cards stock or White Shimmer Paper.  I like to use these with my water color pencils.

Aqua Painters

These painters come two to a pack when purchased thru me.  They can be filled with water straight from the tap, and last a really long time!  I only use these painters on water color paper and boy are they fun!  Here is a video that walks you thru using aqua painters:

I typically don't like to make videos that are longer than 10 - 15 minutes but I wanted to share some important features for the new At Home With You Bundle that was new to the Stampin Up! 2017-2018 catalog.  I LOVE this bundle - here are snapshots of some of the projects I have completed with it:

Cute right?  This set is so versatile and a must for water coloring.  I know myself, I want to have many occasions covered when investing in a bundle set like this and I have to tell you, this one was first on my list!  If you have any questions, please let me know and be sure to check out my class in September to try your hand at water coloring, you won't regret it!

Happy Stampin!
