July is going to be so much fun!!
I am back and ready to share my crafting love with you!

A different world we live in

Hello my friends!  So sorry I have been absent from my blog, but I have been lighting up Facebook!  Please come find me @desereesdoodles if you are a Facebook user.

With everything that is happening in the world today, I thought it was time to break my silence and just share some thoughts.  First and foremost, I hope that you are safe and with loved ones.  I hope you have your health and a roof over your head.  I hope you have food on the table and love in your heart.  If you have all of those, be thankful because that is something.  We are in uncharted waters here, every day is a new challenge and I don't know about you, but that is so hard to get use to.  Uncertainty is never fun or easy, but I trust in the Lord that he has this, there is a reason for it and I leave it to Him.  What is in my control is how I can do my part to make this better for those that can't.

One of the hardest part of this virus is the affect it has on our seniors that should be graduating this year. #classof2020strong  Can you imagine having the last 4 months of that first right of passage being taken away?  No do overs, it's just not going to happen.  I cannot get my head around that one.  The worst part?  All they can do is sit and think about it - everything they are missing.  So, what can I do to help?  I came up with an idea to create a journal book for 3 special senior ladies that need some extra love.  This book will allow them to journal the good, and hopefully get their minds off the bad AND they DO have a wonderful future to look forward to.  Here is how the book looks:

The measurement of the covers are 5 inch x 5 inch which was made from recycled cardboard that we get behind our beautiful DSP (Designers Series Paper) from Stampin Up!, and a piece of 6 inch x 6 inch piece of DSP in your school's colors.  I was surprised how well our Stampin Up! colors fit what I needed!  If you want to see how I covered these, please watch my Facebook video too see how this is done:

I used Thick Whisper White card stock (item 140272) cut at 4 1/2 inches x 4 1/2 inches for each page of the book. I have also included a link to the cards I made for the inside of the book.  The cards vary in size, but all fit on each page, promise.  Here is a link to download those cards:

I am hoping these beautiful ladies have fun with this exercise of journaling their thought, and look back and see the good that did happen when they were seniors.  I am hoping for a little smile too.

I hope I have inspired you to create a memory journal of your own.  This would be great for a wedding gift, a special landmark birthday, the birth of a baby - just about anything!  So many possibilities to keep us active during our time of social distancing to protect those around us.  Stay safe my friends - this too, shall pass.  Any questions, please ask.

Have a great day!
